FAQs

UPLOADING

Why won't my trailer upload properly?!! Well, unfortunately, we're not quite at YouTube level yet, and every once in a while, a user will have trouble getting a trailer to upload. The problem is probably ours, but that doesn't mean that there isn't some things that you can do to fix it. First and foremost, try uploading again. Sometimes there's just a glitch, and it takes a second try. And make sure you give it enough time to convert completely before exiting the page. If that doesn't work, try a different file type or file size (if you can). And if that doesn't work, give us a shout, and we'll see if we can help you get the trailer up on the site.

I'm getting an upload confirmation message, but my trailer isn't playing. Patience, grasshopper, patience. Ever since we upgraded our system to HD converting, it's been taking a while for uploaded trailers to finish converting (sometimes as long as 10 minutes). So if it's been less than 10 minutes since you uploaded your trailer, go grab an herbal tea, relax a bit, and then check back in on it again in a few minutes.

My trailer uploaded, and I can view it, but it's not showing up on either the homepage or the main channel page. Well, there's a good reason for this. It's because we haven't approved it yet. Given the realities of spam and inappropriate content, each uploaded trailer has to be approved before it shows up on one of the main pages. This may take up to 24 hours, but will usually occur far more quickly than that.

It's been much longer than 24 hours. Why hasn't my trailer been approved yet?! Unfortunately, we reserve the right to not approve your trailer at all, which means that it will never make it onto a main page on the site (although it will still be viewable through the url). And this isn't because we don't like you. It's just that we want to keep the site as user-friendly as possible. This means that if your trailer is a duplicate of one that's already been posted, it may not be approved. Or if our editors find it inappropriate in any way. Or if it's listed in the wrong category or without a description. In other words, it's up to us to determine what gets posted on the main pages, but we'll do our best to include your trailers.

VIEWING

Why is this trailer loading so slowly? It's way too choppy to view properly? What?! Choppy?! Which trailer?!! It's our goal at TrailerSpy to provide the optimal trailer-viewing conditions, so if there's ever a trailer that's loading slowly (and you're not on a dial-up network), please contact us immediately at contact@trailerspy.com.

So TrailerSpy is HD now, eh? And what exactly does that mean? Well, basically it means that we've upgraded our conversion process to accommodate HD video conversions. In addition, we do everything possible to ensure that every trailer is available in the highest possible quality, including HD when possible. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that ever trailer on the site will be in High Definition. Since our primary goal is to provide you with the most possible trailers, there are always going to be instances where the only available trailer on the web is of pretty low quality. However, with the quickly shifting winds of the internet, we expect that, in the not too distant future, every new trailer added to the site will be in HD. And by the way, you can help that process along by uploading HD trailers to the site whenever possible. Don't worry, our site can handle it.

GRIEVANCES

My name is Brad Pitt, and I didn't authorize you to post the trailer for my new movie on your stupid website?!! Whoa there, calm down Brad. We were only trying to help you sell more tickets to your new movie, but if you don't want the trailer up on TrailerSpy, that's your prerogative. If you want us to take down a trailer that you own the copyright over (for any reason whatsoever), just send us an email, and we'll take it down ASAP.

COMPLIMENTS

I'm an avid web-surfer, and TrailerSpy is hands-down the best site I've ever seen online. What's the best way to show my appreciation for your undeniable internet virtuosity. Wow, that's a hell of a compliment. Thank you so much. But really, no compliments necessary. If you like the site, just keep coming back, and perhaps tell a few friends about us and help us get the word out about the site. Also, you should probably get your head checked, because we're fairly sure there are other websites that are at least a little better than ours.
