Tropic Thunder Debuts Three New Viral Marketing Sites

This just in. Tropic Thunder, the war movie spoof starring Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr., has just launched three new sites to add to the rainofmadness.com site that kicked off their viral marketing campaign.

The three sites are all devoted to Ben Stiller’s character in the movie, Tugg Speedman. One is a Tugg Speedman fan site, and the other two are fake movie sites for Tugg Speedman’s previous two movies, Simple Jack and Scorcher 6. Both of these sites will debut fake trailers for these fake movies sometime in the near future.

Anyways, here are the sites. Check em out!

Top 20 Movie Trailers of All-Time

Well, it’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally completed my list of The Top 20 Movie Trailers of All-Time.

This list is obviously just one person’s opinion (albeit a person who’s seen a whole lot of movie trailers in his lifetime), so please feel free to comment on my selections or to let people know which trailers you think I missed.

The Onion Reports that the Iron Man Trailer is being Adapted into a Movie!!

I realize that this isn’t actually a trailer, but this video was just too funny not to post.

The title is fairly self-explanatory, but basically, it’s a satirical news report about how the very popular Iron Man trailer is being turned into a full movie and whether that is a good idea or not.

On a side note, it’s nice to see The Onion hitting it big with a good viral video. They’re paper’s still going strong, but I haven’t seen many of their videos that have gotten the kind of penetration that this one has. Hopefully they keep it up.

Happy Holidays from TrailerSpy

Just wanted to wish everyone happy holidays and let people know that there won’t be any more featured trailers until after the new year.

Oh, and as long as we’re in the holiday spirit, I wonder if you guys could get TrailerSpy a little present this holiday season. I know what you’re thinking: what do you get the Movie Site that has everything? Well, there’s really only one thing on our list this year: Word of Mouth.

You see, TrailerSpy’s traffic has been growing at a steady rate, but we’ve still got a long way to go to reach our goal. Unfortunately, we really have no funds for advertising and all that crazy stuff that real websites like to do. And since our main competition is Apple, Yahoo and AOL, it’s hard for a couple of nobodies to keep up (especially poor nobodies).

So please, while you’re gathering around the Christmas tree with your egg-nog or ringing in the New Year with endless tequila shots, feel free to mention our site to the people you’re with. Because if you tell one person, and that person tells another person, and then that person tells another person…well, now you’ve got 4 people who know about TrailerSpy. And that’s clearly better than just 1 person. The logic is indisputable.

Enjoy your egg-nog. And tequila.

Revolver: Mr. Madonna Strikes Again

I want to start this post off with a warning (although it may be too late): If you’re like me and you’re going to watch the next Guy Ritchie film no matter how good the preview is, please do not watch this trailer. It gives away far too much about the movie, and I really wish that I could rewind time and unwatch it.

That said, this trailer does prove that Guy Ritchie is finally back to form. After the atrocity known as Swept Away, it looks like Guy Ritchie has finally learned a very valuable lesson: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Let’s face it. Guy Ritchie only knows how to make one kind of movie, as he proved by following Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels with Snatch, which was essentially the same film but with the addition of a gibberish-talking Brad Pitt.

But the truth is that although Guy Ritchie may be just a one-trick pony, he is certainly a very talented pony, and his one-trick is pretty damn impressive. And any movie Guy Ritchie makes that doesn’t star his wife will always be a SEE IT for me.

Now if only his marketing guys had as much faith in him as I do…maybe then they wouldn’t feel the need to show me the whole damn movie to try and convince me that it’s worth my 11 bucks.

Revolver is rated R and opens December 7 (although it opened in Europe two years ago…that’s probably a bad sign, but oh well).
